OSHA 7.5-Hour Disaster Site Worker Course
Disaster-response and recovery operations can expose workers to unstable structures, hazardous materials, contaminated environments, heavy equipment, electrical hazards, respiratory hazards, heat stress, and other rapidly changing conditions.
The OSHA 7.5-Hour Disaster Site Worker Outreach Course is designed for workers who may provide skilled support or cleanup services following natural or human-caused disasters. This may include personnel involved in utility restoration, demolition, debris removal, heavy-equipment operations, infrastructure repair, site cleanup, and related support activities.
Course Topics
Participants will receive an introduction to:
- Disaster-site safety and health hazards
- Workers’ rights and employer responsibilities
- Hazard recognition and situational awareness
- Respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment
- Decontamination principles
- Traumatic incident stress awareness
- Incident command and disaster-site organization
- Measures used to reduce exposure to disaster-response hazards
